Who we are:
Benetech is a non-profit organization based out of Palo Alto, CA. We provide humanitarian technology solutions for communities in need. We are mainly looking for interns to assist us with daily duties at Bookshare, one of Benetech’s initiatives. Bookshare is the world’s largest accessible digital library of scanned material for people with print disabilities.
We are looking for hard-working, motivated, and detail-oriented interns to participate in our summer internship program, beginning summer 2013. This will be a competitive 4-6 week internship. Interns will assist in daily duties at Bookshare, providing support to the Membership, Collection Development, and Volunteering teams. Interns may be expected to do any or all of the following: provide customer service support, answer emails, update membership information, scan and proofread books, update metadata on our website, and write image descriptions for our visually-impaired users. We will also provide learning opportunities in the following areas: Microsoft Office applications, workplace professionalism, research and data analysis, and accessibility.
Benetech interns are:
