2)  How to use the Checkout List

You're now at the Checkout List, a list of books that have been scanned and are ready to be checked
      out for proofreading.

      You can:
      A.  Search        the Checkout List for a particular title or author
      B.  Sort             the Checkout List
      C.  Read           the entries in the Checkout List

      A.  Search the Checkout List by title or author

Note:  This search searches only the Checkout List !
(The three types of searches in your Task Bar, on the other hand, search books that are
           already live in the library.)

           1.  Find the field labeled  Search for title or author.

           2.  In this field, enter the book title or author name you are looking for and then either press
Enter, or click on the  Update  button.

If you only know a part of the title or author's name, you may also enter just that in the field.
This will act as a keyword search.

           3.   You can also filter your search by Language.

      B.  Sort the Checkout List

           1.  You may sort by the headings Title, Author, Language, Quality, or Date Submitted.
(Quality refers to the quality of the scan, and Date Submitted is the date that a scan was
                uploaded to the Checkout List.)

           2.  To sort, click on the heading you wish to sort by.
By default, the Checkout List sorts by Date Submitted.

4.1 A. 4_Screenshot of the CHECKOUT LIST. Highlighted are the HEADINGS one can SORT BY.

      C.  Read entries in the Checkout List

           1.  To view more books on each page, find the field labeled  Number of records per page.
Change this to the maximum, which is 100, then click  Update.
(When the "Number of records per page" is set to 100, the Checkout List will typically
have between 3 and 5 pages.)

           2.  The Checkout List has more than one page.  To bring up the next (or previous) page:
                -  click  Next  (or  Previous),  or
                -  click on the number of the next page (or previous page), which are just to the left of "Next".

4.1 A. 5_Screenshot of the CHECKOUT LIST. Highlighted are the NUMBER OF RECORDS PER PAGE field and the UPDATE button.

      D.  Change your Preferences in My Account to view all books

If your book has "adult content", you won't be able to see it in the Checkout List unless
you change your Preferences, in an area called My Account.

Some books are not appropriate for children yet do not contain topics of a sexual nature, nor
           bad language.  An example is:

"Last Breath: The Limits of Adventure", which describes what happens to our bodies
physiologically when an extreme adventure goes awry and a person is clinging to life, or dies.

How to change your Preferences in My Account

           1.  While logged in, click on a link in your  Task Bar  called  My Account.

           2.  Click on the  Preferences  tab.
                -  At the top is a section called  Edit your preferences  that contains 3 settings,
                   each with a  'radio button'.
                -  We want to change the settings for the 2nd and 3rd questions.

           3.  Under "Please block adult content", click the radio button  No.

           4.  Also, under "Please show books with any quality, including lower scan qualities in search results",
                click the radio button  Yes.

           5.  Scroll to the bottom and click  Save.

           6.  Now we want to get back to the Checkout List.
                -  In your  Task Bar, click on the link  Volunteer Home.
                -  In the area  In This Section, click on  Checkout a Book.

You should now be able to see all books in the Checkout List.
